The Texas Department of Transportation today launched a redesigned Web site to increase public access to information.

"Lawmakers and others have asked us to be more open-to make our Web site more consumer-focused and streamlined. With the launch of this new site, I believe we are well on our way to fulfilling that request," said Deirdre Delisi, chair of the Texas Transportation Commission.

The revamped site (www.txdot.gov) streamlines the search process, enabling users to more quickly and easily locate information they need, according to a press release from the transportation department.

A new link called the "Project Tracker" provides detailed information on state transportation projects. This link allows users to discover the latest news about specific projects in the agency's 25 districts. Other links take users to the agency's strategic plan, transportation improvement program, highway designations, traffic maps and hearings and meetings schedules. Users can also subscribe to e-mail updates on a broad range of state transportation information, including construction projects, license applications, traffic studies and meeting agendas.
