A real estate investor from Houston and the chief executive of a cotton warehouse company have been appointed to the Texas Transportation Commission, Gov. Rick Perry's office said Monday.
Ned S. Holmes is chairman and chief executive of Parkway Investments, a company that develops and manages real estate across the country. Fred A. Underwood, of Lubbock, heads the Trinity Company, a cotton bale storage facility.
The five-member commission oversees the activities of the Texas Department of Transportation.
The governor appointed Holmes to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission in 2003. In a statement, Perry's office said Holmes will resign that position to join the transportation commission.
The appointments must be confirmed by the Texas Senate.
